You know how you hear health warnings about every day products, often shrugging them off? The extremely high sugar content of soda temporarily shuts down your immune system. Worth the risk? Chemicals in cleaning products can do skin damage and also hurt lungs. Throw them out? The ingredients in common deodorants can potentially lead to cancer. Switch from my usual brand easily purchased at Walmart?
This last example haunts me off and on. I remember first hearing the potential health hazards of common deodorant during my college years. I shrugged it off. Who wants to live every day without deodorant? After my mom developed breast cancer, the deodorant reports again bothered me. I shrugged them off again because I didn’t know what to do about it. And who knows if the reports are true? But as I get older, I am more and more inclined to take precautions.
So, a few years ago I decide to try making my own deodorant. It is easy enough to mix a few ingredients together. The homemade variety, however, doesn’t last long for me and I smell a little at the end of the day. On top of that, the oil in the homemade kind leaves stains on my clothes that don’t wash out. After the homemade experiment, I try buying a natural deodorant at Walmart. I smell after a few hours.
Then one day I see an ad for Native natural deodorant online. I send messages to my friends asking if anyone uses it. No one does, which makes me even more curious. I look up the website and read about this curious deodorant, and then in true “me” fashion, think about it for a few weeks. I decide to give it a try.
Native Gets My Vote
Which brings me to the point of this post. I love Native deodorant. It has no harmful chemicals and smells wonderful. This deodorant comes in several scents for men and women, glides on smoothly and works great, meaning I don’t smell badly by the end of the day. It even stands up to my workouts. No offensive odor afterward! You can order a stick of single deodorant or get on their automatic plan, in which they send you a stick every two or three months, whichever you want. Yes, it does cost a little more than deodorant at Walmart, but it gives me peace of mind on top of great working deodorant.
The package tells you that your body needs to get used to the natural ingredients, so it might not work perfectly when you first start using it. I found that to be somewhat true. But after only a few days I was sure it worked fine for me. Also, because Native sticks with natural ingredients, no antiperspirant is included. Native doesn’t prevent the sweating, but does prevent the odor. This takes a little getting used to, but isn’t a deal breaker for me since I like everything else about it.
Click here to check Native out. This is a referral link, which means if you order through it, you get a free travel size deodorant with the purchase of a regular one. I do get a travel size free too when you order, but I certainly don’t need it. I have lots of Native here at home, and Native delivers to me automatically every three months. So I am not writing this post to get free mini Natives. (Maybe I will give them as gifts if they arrive at my door :). I am just endorsing a product I really like.
I hope you like it too.
Thanks for sharing. I’ve been looking for something that’s natural but actually does the job. If I can steer my daughter toward this and hopefully help her avoid any potential health hazards, that’s all the better. We DEFINITELY don’t want to stink. Wanna know what’s worse than being a highschooler with BO? Being an adult who hangs out with highschoolers all day and has noticeable BO. I know I wasn’t popular 25 years ago, and sure don’t want to hurt my chances at popularity now!
Anyway, I’ve given a few brands a try but have been curious about trying Native also. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for your comments! I appreciate it greatly!
